Welcome!

We’re so glad you’re interested in learning with us! At Motivate Kids, we believe that mentorship and hands-on experience are key to shaping confident, capable paediatric occupational therapists.

Our Internship Program is designed to give final-year OT students practical learning opportunities in a supportive, engaging, and dynamic environment. You’ll work alongside experienced therapists, build clinical skills, and gain insight into the world of paediatric OT—all while being part of a team that values growth, collaboration, and making a real difference in children’s lives.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your OT journey, we’d love to be part of it!

What to expect in your internship?

Our Term 4 Internship Program is a structured experience designed to help you bridge the gap between study and practice. Here’s what you can expect:

Assessment and clinical reasoning

  • Observe and assist with administering and interpreting a variety of assessments, including Structured Observations of Sensory Integration (SOSI-M), the Beery-Buktenica Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration (Beery VMI), the Movement Assessment Battery for Children (MABC-3), the Detailed Assessment of Speed of Handwriting (DASH-2), and the Sensory Processing Measure (SPM-2) and more.
  • Build your understanding of how assessment outcomes link to goal-setting and therapy planning.
  • Learn how to develop SMART goals and translate assessment findings into practical, engaging therapy sessions

Mentorship & supervision

We value supervision as a reflective, co-created process that supports both your professional growth and personal development.

Your support includes:

  • Weekly 1:1 supervision
  • Weekly group mentoring
  • Participation in our therapy team meetings
  • Access to our 30-module in-house learning pathway
  • Use of Apple laptop and iPad during your internship

We’ll also help you explore your learning style, set personal goals, and tailor your experience based on your strengths, aspirations, and stage of learning.

Intervention and client work

  • Support children with a range of diagnoses including Autism, Attention Deficit hyperactivity Disorder, developmental delays, trauma backgrounds, and motor coordination challenges.
  • Learn to plan and implement meaningful therapy activities, adjusting to the child’s needs and engagement in the moment.

Caseload development

  • Observe sessions led by experienced OTs
  • Co-lead sessions alongside a supervising OT
  • Begin to lead with your OT present
  • By the end of the year, you’ll be ready to run your own sessions!

Pathway to our graduate program

Interns who complete the program and register with AHPRA can transition seamlessly into our Graduate Program, which offers structured supervision, career mentoring, and a tailored learning pathway.

This isn’t just an internship—it’s the first step toward a fulfilling career in paediatric OT.

Ready to take the first step?

If you're a final-year occupational therapy student with a passion for paediatrics, we’d love to connect with you!
