At My Speed is an OT-led self-regulation program for primary and early secondary schools, supporting student wellbeing, participation and readiness for learning.
Delivered in small groups at your school, the program helps students recognise changes in their level of alertness and discover practical strategies that can help them learn, connect, manage emotions and participate throughout their school day.
An OT-led self-regulation program for primary and early secondary schools.
Based on the evidence-informed Alert Program® (How Does Your Engine Run?®), At My Speed gives students a simple, shared and non-judgemental way to understand and talk about regulation.
Different speeds for different moments
Children naturally move through different levels of alertness throughout their day. Sometimes their bodies might feel fast and full of energy. At other times they may feel slow or tired.
Different activities need different things from us too. The level of alertness a student needs at recess may be very different from what helps them listen, write, work with others or move between activities.
At My Speed helps students notice these changes, understand what their body is telling them and discover practical strategies that support their wellbeing, resilience, connection with others and readiness for learning.
What students learn
Across the program, students build the awareness and skills to:
-
Notice their speed
Recognise when their “engine” is running high, low or just right for what they are doing.
-
Explore what changes it
Experience sensory and movement strategies and notice how these affect their body.
-
Build their own toolkit
Discover individual strategies that work for them.
-
Use what they know
Begin choosing strategies that can support learning, play, relationships and everyday school routines.

How At My Speed works
8 Weekly Sessions
45-minute sessions delivered at your school.
Small Groups
4–8 students grouped by year level and/or shared support needs.
OT-led Activities
Students explore sensory and movement strategies and discover what works for them.
School Staff Involvement
Where possible, a teacher or support officer learns alongside the OT, helping strategies carry into everyday school life.
Tracking & Summary
Progress and participation are monitored across the program, with a group summary provided at completion.
Family Connection
Parent information helps extend learning beyond the group.
At My Speed is designed to build capacity around the child.
Where possible, a teacher or support officer learns alongside students and the Occupational Therapist, building shared language, practical strategies and greater confidence to support regulation within everyday school routines.
Parent/caregiver information and practical resources also help extend learning beyond the group, so the strategies students discover can continue to be supported after the eight-week program.
Evidence-informed. OT-led.
At My Speed is Motivate Kids’ occupational therapy-led delivery of the Alert Program®, adapted for Australian school environments while retaining its core self-regulation framework.
Research relating to the Alert Program® has reported outcomes including improved self-regulation and emotional regulation, inhibitory control, social cognition and self-management, alongside reduced peer and behavioural difficulties and increased engagement with regulation strategies.
