Perhaps your child finds busy places overwhelming, avoids particular clothes or textures, seems to need constant movement, or finds everyday routines harder than you’d expect.
It can be difficult to know what’s driving these responses or how best to support them.
A Sensory Assessment helps us understand how your child takes in, processes and responds to sensory information, and what may help them participate more comfortably and confidently in everyday life.

Our sensory systems influence more than we might realise.
Sensory processing is the way our brain receives, organises and responds to information from our body and the world around us.
It influences how we move, pay attention, regulate, learn new skills and participate in everyday activities.
A comprehensive assessment, designed to feel like play.
The EASI Assessment
Our Sensory Assessments are completed by EASI-certified paediatric Occupational Therapists using the Evaluation in Ayres Sensory Integration (EASI) alongside Data-Driven Decision Making.
Through carefully selected, play-based activities, we explore how your child processes sensory information, moves, plans and responds to different sensory experiences.
For your child, much of the assessment simply feels like play.
Sensory Assessments may be helpful if your child…
-
Becomes overwhelmed in noisy, busy or unpredictable environments
-
Avoids certain textures, clothing, foods or sensory experiences
-
Seems to constantly seek movement, jumping, crashing or rough play
-
Finds everyday routines such as dressing or eating more difficult
-
Finds it difficult to stay regulated, pay attention or manage big feelings
-
Finds learning new physical skills challenging
-
Seems particularly tired after school, social situations or busy environments
-
Seems less confident in their body or movements
Or perhaps nothing quite fits into a neat box. You simply want to understand your child and their sensory needs more deeply.
What does a Sensory Assessment involve?
-
Getting to know your child
We start by building a picture of your child’s strengths, interests, routines and everyday experiences.
-
Play-based assessment
Your child takes part in two 90-minute assessment sessions in our purpose-built sensory studio. Through engaging activities, we explore how they process sensory information, move, plan and respond to different sensory experiences.
-
Understanding the findings
Your Occupational Therapist carefully scores and interprets the assessment, bringing the different pieces together to build a comprehensive picture of your child’s sensory profile.
-
Feedback and recommendations
You’ll receive a comprehensive written report and meet with your therapist to talk through what we found, what it may mean for your child and practical recommendations for home, school and therapy.
Your report can also be shared with educators and other health professionals, helping everyone supporting your child work from the same understanding.

Available as a stand-alone assessment
You don’t need to already be a Motivate Kids family.
Sensory Assessments are available to new and existing clients, and we’ll guide you through any recommended next steps.
